Marketing Minute – Hashtags

Hey, guys. Alex Branning here with my Marketing Minute. I want to talk about hashtags. What are hashtags? How do I use them? What are they good for? Hashtags are a way for you to use a short phrase so that you can easily categorize your content and have it joined with content from others all over the world. They are great if you want to join an existing conversation or use a unique hashtag so that you can easily separate yourself amidst all the noise.

On Facebook, hashtags really aren’t being use that effectively by the platform. You can add hashtags to your status updates, to your videos, et cetera, but they really aren’t doing too much with them. On Instagram, hashtags are king. If you are posting on Instagram regularly, make sure that you use common hashtags and come up with your own unique hashtag so that people can find your stuff easier. In Twitter, Twitter is really what made hashtags popular. If you are posting on Twitter, make sure that you end your post with at least one hashtag. The most popular page within a Twitter app is what’s trending. Normally those trends are dictated by the hashtags that are used by Twitter users.

This has been the Marketing Minute based on hashtags. I hope you’ve learned something. If you did, please share this with your audience. Thank you!
