Facebook Marketing: Overall Strategies

I absolutely love marketing my business on Facebook because it works so well, gives me a great return on my investment, and Facebook continues to come out with new ways to reach my audience.

As a successful Facebook marketer, I get asked a lot about how we should get started in with the overall strategy is.

In this blog post I’m going to go over the broad strokes of creating a successful Facebook marketing campaign.
My goal in this blog post is to show you the steps to take, and then give you some ideas on the best ways to implement these strategies.

CREATE AN AUDIENCE: now that you have decided to use Facebook as a marketing tool, you have to build an audience. You must have an audience that you can talk to you for any of the other steps to work. Too often, I see entrepreneurs try to skip the “create an audience” phase and go directly to selling.

Who will you be selling to if nobody is listening?
If you were brand-new to Facebook, it may seem daunting to try to create an audience or do attract people to your Facebook presence. Here are some strategies that I have used to kick start a brand-new (or dying) Facebook brand:

  1. Run a contest
  2. Release free high value content
  3. Push an irresistible offer
  4. Become so fun and engaging people can’t stay away from you!
SPEAK TO YOUR AUDIENCE: now that you have an audience, even if it is only 20 people, you have to speak to them and earn their trust.
Whatever you GIVE to your audience, they will GIVE back to you in the form of new business and/or referrals.

Here are some great ways to speak to your audience to establish a deeper connection:

  1. Personal stories
  2. Humour
  3. Local news
  4. Inspiration

EDUCATE YOUR AUDIENCE: Assuming that your new audience does not really know you, you have to educate them on what you do. However, nobody wants to sit through a lecture! Here are some great ways that you can educate your audience so that they know what you do, who they can refer her to you, and how you can help them:

  1. Advice
  2. How to tutorials
  3. Interesting facts
  4. Success stories
ASK YOUR AUDIENCE: now it is time to sell! But, how do you start selling to somebody without being “sales-y”? We all have a BS meter, we know when somebody is trying to get us to do something even if they are not being direct and asking about it.

Your audience will know when you are trying to get a sale even if you were not being direct and asking for the sale.

I have found that it is best to just come right out and ask them to buy if you are getting them to try to buy something. Don’t try to beat around the bush!

Make them an offer that they cannot refuse so that you can get them in the door!

REPEAT: now that you have started to sell to your audience, go back to step one and keep on building! Your audience does not want you to continue to sell to them, they want to see more people into the community, they want to continue to be educated, and they want you to continue to make their lives easier by giving them irresistible offers to relieve a pain point.
