There are very few things that are more memorable than when someone makes a mistake…
Wouldn’t you agree?

When you’re sitting around talking to friends or family, nothing gets their attention more than when you pronounce a word wrong, or say something that isn’t factual… or say something that they disagree with (luckily, that last one is not what this is about today!)
If you know a person who consistently spells or says a word improperly, I’m sure you notice it every time.
Today’s marketing idea is going to capitalize on that idea!

And now, let’s dive into our imperfect marketing idea!

It has been said in the past that even if someone is talking bad about you, they’re still talking about you, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

While I wouldn’t go as far as to say that you should produce bad publicity, there is an element of truth in there:

If you want to gain engagement and attention from your audience, you have to do something surprising.

Today, I want you to purposely make a mistake in a social media post, email, or ad… or all 3!

Take a look at this example:

In case you’re wondering, yes, I purposely made that mistake.

And guess what… that one ad generated a massive amount of engagement!

Or this other mistake I found…

I imagine this also brought a lot of attention to their new car!

So today, find a funny and creative way to make a mistake! I find grammar mistakes to be the least controversial, especially if you use it in a way that’s ironic (like my example), but there are many ways you can go with this!

This is probably one of my favorite ideas in a while, so email me back with your ideas too! I can’t wait to hear them!

Speaking of making mistakes, if you’re a grammar or word nerd, I’m sure you have your share of funny memes you’ve seen that highlight the craziness of the English language.

Not only are there funny mistakes that are made, but punctuation can also cause us some trouble and, with over 6,000 homonyms, sentences can get a little tricky.

Like this one for example:

So for today’s content prompt, you can ask your audience to:
Share your favorite grammar snafu meme!
There are so many funny memes out there that you’ll end up with a slew of comments filled with funny images for your audience to enjoy together.

And of course, don’t two important things:
Post your own favorite meme too
Don’t let the grammar trolls get to you 😜
