“Santa Claus is dead, and he only gave gifts to poor kids.” – Ali, at 3 years old
Y’know how you tell kids a story and then they just tell the parts they remember? We told Ali that Santa Claus was a real person (Saint Nicholas) who was this super generous guy that gave gifts to orphans and the poor, but he lived a long time ago and died…
…and when a lady at our coffee shop asked Ali if she was excited for Santa to come out she blurted out “Santa Claus is dead, and he only gave gifts to poor kids.”
LOL
(Also, I was super embarrassed)
This story will live in our family history forever because it’s so funny – and so Ali, she’s a truth-teller.
There’s a valuable business lesson here… people only remember pieces of information.
PEOPLE REMEMBER PIECES
Ali remembered Santa was dead and he gave gifts to poor kids. We told her a lot more than that, but that’s all she remembered.
Your customers will only remember pieces of what ya tell ’em
Repeat yourself over and over again, that’s how you become known.
