Zen Cart Mobile

With cell phones taking off in popularity, Zen Cart store owners need a way to make their stores accessible to customers using a cell phone or other mobile device. Today I released a free module that gives you a simple mobile home page. From the Branning Group site:

Zen Cart Mobile: This module allows you to have a mobile-friendly home page that is 100% compatible with all cell phones made since 2005. Your new mobile home page is easily modified using the Define Pages Editor and takes less than two minutes to install. Now all users accessing your web site from a mobile phone will see a mobile-compatible web page. This page is easily editable using the Define Pages editor, and may save you a customer. Most web sites are not mobile-friendly, this module redirects your visitors to a page they can easily read from a mobile device.

You could put a phone number on the mobile page to allow the visitor a quick way to get in touch with you, or a simple email form, or extend your mobile site by adding a mobile-friendly search, etc.

The point of the module is that now visitors using a cell phone (or other mobile device) will see a page customized to them and not have to suffer through trying to see your store home page on their tiny screens. PDF | Download

Zen Cart Gift Registry

The Branning Group has developed a gift registry (wish list) plug-in for the Zen Cart shopping system. This registry isn’t hosted off-site, all of the data and code is on YOUR server under YOUR control!

This is currently in ten stores and counting! You can purchase a license for your store (multi-license discounts available) by writing to alex@branninggroup.com. Installation, customization of look and feel and custom programming is available, just ask for a quote!

The registry has the following features:

Users:
- Create account (tied in to Zen Cart customers table)
- Edit registry information (event type, event date)
- Search for a registry

Products
- Insert “add to registry” button on products detail page
- Add products in registry to cart with one click
- Order tracking
- Now works with attributes! (4/6/2009)

Registries
- Add, edit and remove products using fast, powerful GUI
- Visitors can search for registries to view
- Print button on registry view for an easy shopping list

ZenCart2.com

I released a new web site today at http://zencart2.com. This web site is basically a fan-site of the new Zen Cart 2.0 and it comes complete with forums, articles and a way for the Zen community to discuss the latest iteration of Zen Cart amongst themselves.

I’m stoked that I was able to merge WordPress and phpBB, that was a pretty difficult process but I got it working! :D

LikeZebra.com incorporates a full social toolset with a large-scale media management system; combining two of the most popular features on the Web for the 12-25 year-old demographic. Building on the foundation of the Branning Group Social Networking Platform, the LikeZebra site launched on November 24, 2008.

An investor based in Los Angeles, CA contracted the Branning Group to build a social network geared towards the artistic community from the ground up. The web site had to look sharp, function smoothly and handle a sudden boom in visitors. Bluecanvas.com was launched on the Branning Group Social Networking Platform. The latest re-design includes integration with phpBB and a new online magazine!
